Description:
Java EE application developer [Master level]. The candidate selected for this effort will provide overall technical leadership for the project and serve 
as mentor to Java developers having less experience in configuring Java n-tier environments. Responsible for all aspects of technical design, database 
integration, n-tier architecture, and technical coordination of activities of other developers, DBAs and other development team members.
 
Required:
No less than 3 years experience as a Sr. lead Java EE n-tier application developer, having experience implementing and configuring n-tier 
Java applications using Java (6), and Oracle (10G or higher). Must have demonstrated ability to lead a complex technical application development 
project from beginning to end. 

Preferred:
Experience in a Red Hat Linux (Apache Tomcat), and Windows XP environments. Familiar working with Oracle SQL stored procedures and triggers.

Description:
The Department of Commerce (DOC) is seeking to fill a short term (approx. 6 month) contractor assignment to provide Database Management Services. The selected 
candidate’s role will be to manage monitor and performance tune production and development of Oracle databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. This 
includes the systems analysis, maintenance, security, configuration, space management, database migrations, database and system tuning, database refreshes, backups and 
restores, and user resource management for various databases and components.

Expectations and Responsibilities will include the following:
•Monitor database system details within the database
•Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues
•Monitor, optimize and allocate physical data storage for database systems
•Perform database transaction and security audits
•Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases
•Establish appropriate end-user database access control levels
•Maintain user access privileges and the security set up of all databases
•Develop routines for end-users to facilitate best practices database use
•Respond to end-user requests for ad-hoc reports, updates and data repairs
•Work with agency staff to develop test plans and ensure successful testing and validation of all developed solutions
•Develop technical documentation that will be referenced for support of the delivered solution and subsequent enhancements
 
Required:
•Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices
•Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers, including Oracle Database 11g
•Hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience
•Strong PL/SQL abilities
•Familiar with RMAN
•Experience writing stored procedures, packages, and triggers
•Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
•Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
•Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards and products as required
•Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
•Minimum of five (5) years experience working with Oracle server

Preferred:
•Minimum of two (2) years experience in application development and design
•Working knowledge of RedHat Enterprise Linux server and Apache Tomcat application server platforms
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills (both written and oral)
•Independent; self-starter with proven experience working successfully in a team environment
